The St Vincent de Paul Society is an international association of lay men and women founded in Paris, France in 1833 by Frederick Ozanam and 5 fellow students. Their purpose was “to do what Jesus did” by reaching out to the needy. The Society grew quickly and spread throughout the world.
Who are we?
· The St Vincent de Paul Society of St Padre Pio Parish is the merger of the Our Lady of the Angels and St Maria Goretti Conferences.
· Lay people who give freely of their time and sometimes their financial resources (if we can) to perform corporal works of mercy within the parish boundaries.
What do we do?
We help “friends in need” with:
· Rent, utilities, furniture, clothing and appliances. Monies used are donated by parishioners, there is a 2nd collection once a year, or from other more affluent St Vincent de Paul Conferences throughout the area.
· We currently meet every 2 weeks via Zoom and are always grateful for new members.
To join our mission, for more information, or to make a donation, please call 412-628-2077. Prayers for our “friends in need” and the Society are always appreciated.
Please use the number above if you are in need and would like to talk to someone. We are happy to talk with you. If you are not in our parish boundaries, we will refer you to resources in your area.
